NC legends

I got to ride on different days with two Asheville stars this week. The pump track maestro visited early in the week, and we took him on a tour near Caledonia, ironically, on mostly blazed trails.
Yesterday, one of the original SS crew, Si, showed up at the MBM ride. He tasted some of the handiwork in the south end.

Some time was spent moving rocks. This may incur the wrath of 'tard. We call it a "cooler" line, it certainly isn't an easier line. Maybe the kind of line the original architect would've created if he had more bodies and time to do it. Only two tried riding it, and only one cleaned it (not me). This trail continues to have my number. I learned it's definitely not a trail to stop and session stuff on. I have to keep rolling if I expect to have any flow and mo at all. And with no flow, I'm not going to clean even the most benign looking section

You mean the wrath of the Tractor?
That line was good before?
Once again, there are a few spots that need rock work and I need help to do it. Why doesn't anyone work on the 1 uncleanable spot??? Why do people feel the need to change the hard lines that are doable. Many people clean that spot.(note: MBM and Cupcakes) None of the trail is going to erode?? Would it be okay if I found a spot on H or H and Ice... and changed it for a cooler but harder route??? That's crazy. I wouldn't do something like that. I am once again sorry but I humbly disagree with the changes, even if its better. Climbers etiquette. But Larry,...I still love ya,....I'm just gonna make sure your up outta bed at 5 on Sunday mornings in the middle of winter, skippin' your ski trips so you can help me with the lines.

I will. School is out Monday. I will let you know. It will be fun and a great chance to drink beer in the woods! It would also be nice to have a good group work together so the hindsight 20/20 people can have a chance to say there is a better way to do it right from the start. I'm sizing up the weekend of the June 21 to do a bunch of maintenance/improvements from Rocky Ridge straight through to Rattle Dick. Anyone else up for it?? I will support the effort with one case of cold ones.

As long as the wifey is cool, I should be okay with that on the 21st. Saturday I'll be drinking beer for charity at the Harrisburg Brewers Fest.

Nice work at hooha Tractor,
How were those new trails there?

Martin said he was getting passed by guys on the downhills because they could ride berms faster. He was at the pump track last night trying to learn berms.

The new single track climb up the mountain was awesome and vary ss-able. I manged to clean it the first time up but the second time was a walking fest. I didn't have the legs. Their switchbacks were done really well. You could hold your mo to get you through because they used big berms and a quick coast into them that helped get you up and over. As for Martin and the descents,..well you know it takes a ride or two for us Michauxslovakians to get used to the Virginia high speed descents, but I bet you not too many people were passing him on the ridgeline!

That seems to be key, putting a little coasty down into your ups. Especially when building something bottom-to-top like that.
